Organizers say about. 200 people attended the event, which was open to people from across Clarington. Volunteers, including Iain Maclvcr and Sam Lama, worked hard to ensure there was plenty to eat at the Newcastle Community Feast held on Christmas Day. The idea for the feast came from Newcastle resident Isobcl Rappaport, who attended a similar event a number of years ago while visiting family in Rhode Island. Dozens of volunteers joined the effort and helped to make the project a success. THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU -- There was plenty of food for all at the Newcastle Community Feast Christmas Day, People who attended the feast were asked, if possible, to contribute a cooked vegetable, vegetable, salad or dessert. Prepared turkey dinners were provided to Parkview Lodge Seniors' Residence and Community Care, Newcastle, Non-perishable Non-perishable food items and any extra money from the Feast will be donated to the Clarington East Food Bank.
