Page 4 The Claringlon/Courticc Independent. Bowmanville, Saturday, January 2,1999 Mosport Park Announces 1999 Racing Schedule Between Mosport's three tracks (2.459 mile road- course, 1/2 mile speedway, and 1.1km karting circuit) race fans will always have an event to see. In keeping with the tradition as "Canada's Home of Motorsporls" Mosport has an exciting and aggressive schedule in 1999. Mosport International Raceway, the 2.459 mile road- course, proudly welcomes back the SCCA BFGoodrich Trans-Am Championship. The longest road racing series in North America will take to the roadcourse on the traditional traditional Victoria Day Weekend, May 21-24. Focus then turns to June and the running of the inaugural inaugural American LeMans Series at Mosport from June 25- 27. July begins with a theme similar to the history of Mosport and LeMans. The Vintage Car Festival will return to Mosport from July 2-4. Beautifully restored racccars from time gone past arc the feature of this three- day car lover's extravaganza. Mosport Speedway then takes center stage July 10-11 with the Castrai CASCAR Super Series. Saturday's schedule will include Mosport's regular weekly racing along with CASCAR time-trials and qualifying races. Sunday will consist of the CASCAR Super Series feature feature race along with a support race. Attention turns back to the roadcourse and avid motorcycle enthusiasts. Supershow Racing presents Mosport Bike Week '99 from July 17-25. The nine day motorcycle smorgasbord begins with Supershow's popular popular Sport Bike Weekend. Then a week long list of Track Riding Schools await Mosport Bike Week attendees on route to the closing weekend's round of the Canadian Superbike Championship. Staying with two-wheeled racers, the next major event for Mosport's roadcourse will be the Vintage Motorcycle Festival from August 20-22. Plan to spend the weekend at Mosport from August 27-29, as the Castrai Cascar Super Series returns for their second annual National Event on the roadcourse. Putting to rest a busy season on the roadcourse will be the Celebration of Motorsport '99 from October 1 -3. Top amateur racers fill open wheel and closed wheel grids for their last race of the year. At Mosport Speedway each week from May 8 to September 11, its Fraser Ford Saturday Night Racing. Recently held rules meetings for 1999 indicate an even stronger field of cars in the four regular divisions. Mosport has not overlooked karting. Definitely perceived perceived as a "feeder" system to car racing. The Mosport Kart Club provides an opportunity for the family to come together in motorsports and have fun. The schedule schedule from April to October provides the aspiring racer and the hobbyist a safe, fast track to polish their skills.
