Guide News Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to everyone from Newcastle District! All units in Ncwtonville and Newcastle were busy this past month, celebrating celebrating this joyful season season with outings, crafts and parties. But it was also a time for helping... Brownies collected everything to assist a family which was burnt out of their home just before Christmas; Sparks collected food and other items for a Christmas family; Guides brought in gifts and food for their Christmas family and the Pathfinders also helped this same family by baking goodies and selling them at the Pines - they then went shopping shopping with this money and bought clothing for the family. So when you hear unfavourable stories stories about young people, please think of these young ladies and know there are lots of great youth out there helping others. The Pathfinders had a great trip into Toronto- with another unit from Bowmanvillc. It was a learning time when they saw how many people slept on the streets and experienced some cultural cultural diversity walking through the inner city. They stopped to shop at the Eaton Centre then enjoyed a rowdy, fun time at the Medieval Times Dinner Theatre! We were so noisy the "King" laughingly told us to settle down, it was only a two and a half hour show. Of course this made the Pathfinders noisier yet! Many Sparks visited Casa Loma and had a magical time in that beautiful Toronto landmark. landmark. Winter camp is coming coming up for many of our Units and the girls are busy planning menus, kit lists, games, crafts and outdoor skill challenges. challenges.
