On January 10, the Toros had a return match against Whitby on Whitby's turf and managed a 2-2 tie. The following night the Toros hosted Ajax but came out flat footed and were out- skated and outplayed by the visitors. The Toros took a 1-0 lead, but that would be the only time in the contest that the home squad held an edge. The Ajax squad scored five straight goals to take a commanding commanding 5-1 lead after two periods. The Toros played a stronger third period scoring twice to close the gap to 5-3, but that was as close as they would gel. Ajax added an empty net goal to make the final score 6-3. Ian Cuthbcrtson had two goals for the Toros, Blake Aylsworth added two assists, Matt Stout scored the other Toro marker. Chipping in with one assist each were Jeff Ross, Darren Kok and Kyle Welsh. Following their loss to Ajax, the Toros were one game under .500 and hoped to once again even their season season tally as they travelled to Peterborough to take on the Petes. The Toros fell behind 2-0 in the first period but fought back to keep the game close at 3-2. The Peterborough squad added an empty net goal to take a 4-2 victory. With two regular season games remaining, the Toros need a couple of victories to finish the season at the .500 mark as they hosted Aurora and Whitby. Against Aurora the Toros had a 2-1 first period lead and a 3-2 edge after two periods, but gave up three goals in the final period while scoring two of their own to end up with a 5-5 tie. Toro goals were scored by Jon Black with two, Darren Kok, Ian Cuthbcrtson and Darryl Adams with one each. Jeff Ross added three assists with Kyle Welsh, Dan Turcotte, Matt Stout and Ryan McNight chipping in with one assist each. Their last regular season outing was against their Whitby rivals and was an uphill battle as the Toros played a good part of the game shorlhanded including the final seven minutes. The final score was 2-2 but the Toros were lucky to get the tic as the visitors outshot the home squad, especially in the final period. The goaltending of Jeff Crokc kept them in the game as they were playing three against five on more than one occasion. The Toros finished the season with an 11-13-6 record and now must concentrate concentrate on playing smart hockey as they enter the playoffs. Durham TV are W Finalists The Durham TV Major Tykes travelled to Bobcaygeon for their annual tournament. The grey and black came out ready to attack.
