Vincent Massey defeated Dr. Ross Tilley in the finals. Team members include, front row, (l-r), Katie Turvill, Emma Mcech, Emily Scoffield, Christine Andrade, Angie Haass. Shoppers Drug Mart Keeping Busy The Shoppers Drug Mart Minor Tyke hockey team has been kept busy by playing three more regular league games. They were first matched against Skylight Donuts in what proved to be an exciting game. The first period saw Shoppers Drug Mart open the scoring with a beautiful rebound shot from Conner Allan at the eight minute mark to lake the lead. Rory Craddock picked up the assist. Then, just over a minute later, Eric Fcgan went coast-to-coast on a breakaway and fired the puck into the net to finish off their first period scoring. This marked both Conner Allan's and Eric Fcgan's first goal of the season. Period two goals by Craddock and Jake Robinson brought the score to 4-4 to set the scene for an exciting final period. Bradley Bolger made some outstanding saves and was ready for the final period challenge. Skylight Donuts scored first in the third, however. Craddock quickly responded with one for Shoppers to tie the game again. However, with four minutes remaining, Skylight slipped one past the goalline to take the win 6-5. McPherson Slumping The Clarington Flames Novice team, sponsored by K. McPherson Optometrist, have fallen into a slump going into the second second half of the season after holding first place for the better part of the first half of the season. On January 13th the Flames fell to a 2- 1 loss to the Oshawa Avalanche team with the only Flames goal scored by Chantcl Kmkkcrt after receiving a perfect pass from Michelle Jordan. Another game played January 16, the Flames met up with the Oshawa Blues -team falling .to .-a: 3-1 loss with the only Flames goal scored by Ally Stade assisted by Darija Davidson and Kristi Farrow. In another game played on January 22, the Flames fell to a 1-0 loss to the Oshawa Stars. In a game played Jan. 31, the Flames fell 3-2 to the Oshawa Avalanche team with both Flames goals scored by Amanda Miljanovski with an assist going to Colleen Bathe on the first goal. Shoppers next challenger was Beaver Lumber and again had to settle for a loss with a last minute goal by the opposition to end the game 3-2. Rory Craddock picked up both goals for Shoppers Dmg Mart. Justin Sarginson played a solid game between the pipes. The team then went on to meet Clarington Hydro and walked away with a 3-3 tie. The first period saw Brady Richards fire in a rebound shot from Craddock to open the scoring for Shoppers Drug Mart and to mark his first goal of the season. Craddock then shot in a marker of his own to tic the game at 2-2 at the end of the first. Connor Allan picked up the lone goal in the second period to give Shoppers a 3-2 lead. Clarington Hydro responded with a goal of their own to tie the game. Kirk Campbell showed great skill in net again for Shoppers Drug Mart. Halminen Homes Finish with Four Wins The Minor Novice Toros, sponsored by Halminen Homes, finished the regular season season with four wins. This brought their regular regular season record to a remarkable 29-0-1. The Toros finished in first place in York/Simcoc action. The four victories came over two teams as they played a home-and-home series with Belleville and Pickering. The young Toros beat Pickering 8-0 and 5-0. The results were similar as they downed Belleville 13-1 and 9-1. The Pickering shutouts were the eleventh and twelfth of the season lor Toro goalies Zach Higgins and Derek Walker. Leading the point parade was Greg Nemisz with 10 goals, 8 assists; followed by James Hoffman:! 1- goals, =2 assists; .John: Bull 4 goals, 5 assists; Andrew Bobas 3 goals, 4 assists; Keegan Lawson 1 goal, 5 assists; Justin Stadlcr I goal, 4 assists; Matthew Perron 4 assists; Matthew Garrison 2 goals, 1 assist; Chris Rivcst 1 goal, 2 assists; Brady Burns 3 assists; Chad McPaul 1 goal, 1 assist; Chad McDonald 2 assists; Nicholas Diachenko 1 goal; Matthew Pedcn and Kyle Robertson with 1 assist apiece. Newcastle Pccwee #1 sponsored by Bowmanvillc Swiss Chalet, played in the Manvcrs tournament on January 30th. The first game was against a team from Beaverton. Daniel Wong-Fung opened the scoring 54 seconds into the game and Mark Reid, assisted by Michael Candiano, added one four seconds later. Midway into the second period, Darryl Lucyk scored on a pass from Daniel. Newcastle scoring was finished by Mark early in the third. Our netminders Jonathan Skan and Chris Vanstonc held the opposition to just one goal. Newcastle won 4-1. Ryan Brunt and Shawn Mablcy, on defense, played well. The next game pitted us against a team from Bowmanvillc whom we had played before. Newcastle started with enthusiasm, with Daniel opening the scoring with a minute left in the first period, assisted by Matthew Wong-Fung and Darryl. Thirty seconds into the second period, Bowmanvillc tied the game. But, playing Durham Gymnasts Return from North Bay With Top Finishes The Durham Gymnastics Academy recently returned from North Bay where the boys competed in their 2nd Provincial Qualifier. The boys who attended are well on their way to represent represent Metro East in the Provincial meet in March. Keenan Pascos, 12, of Courtice received first on floor, 8th on pommels, pommels, third on rings, 5th on parallel bars, first on highbar in the Argo B category. Jeff Birch, 10, of Courtice walked away with 6th on floor, 7th on rings, bronze on vault and 6th on highbar in the Sparx category. Bill Cramp, 9, of Courtice received second on floor, 4th on pommels, third on rings, 4th on vault, 4th on parallel bars and 5th on highbar in the Sparx category. Their latest game saw them take on Royal Bank. Zack Kirkby opened the scoring. An assist went to Matthew Button. Royal Bank replied to knot the score at 1-1. Before the period was over Matthew Button scored on a breakaway to put J&M Tire up 2-1. Halfway into the second, J&M went 3-1 up on a goal from Shaync Petrusma assisted by Kyle Devries. Royal Bank netted their second two minutes minutes later. Joey Fernandes scored with four minutes to go in the third to seal the victory. The final score was 4-2. Bowmanvillc closed the gap with a goal with 20 seconds left. Andrew Murphy and Matthew Wong-Fung played a solid defense, with Travis Gcndron taking shots from the point when he could. In the third, Bowmanvillc proved to be a little too strong, scoring three goals including an empty net, making the final 5- 3. Newcastle had turned in a fine effort and was in the 'B' finals. In the 'B' finals, Newcastle met a league rival from Baltimore. The first period period was all Newcastle, with goals by Michael, assisted by Aaron Bound; Aaron assisted by Travis Gcndron; and Andy Millson unassisted. Greg Jeeves patrolled his wing, but. Baltimore scored late. There was no scoring in the second and in the third Newcastle was caught by three quick goals by Baltimore. The purpose of the proposed zoning By-law amendment is to temporarily change the zone category of approximately 3 hectare(s) (7.4 acres) of land 'on part of Lots 18 and 19, Concession 1, Township of Manvers, from the Commercial Trailer Park (C4) Zone and the Rural General (A1) Zone to the Commercial Trailer Park Exception One (C4-S1) Zone and the Rural General Exception Nineteen (A1-S19) Zone. The effect of the zoning change would be to permit an "off road" Motorcycle training school, with parking for a maximum of 20 vehicles, up to 10 overnight camping sites, and one temporary or portable building with a maximum floor area of 25 sq. m (265 sq. ft.) on the land to be zoned C4-S1 while an associated training track or trail would be permitted in the A1 -S19 Zone. The land affected by the proposed temporary use zoning by-law amendment is shown on the Key Map as the 'LAND TO BE ZONED C4-ST and the 'LAND TO BE ZONED A1-S19'. Our records, at this time, indicate that the land which is subject of the Application for Rezoning is not subject of an application under the Planning Act for an amendment to an Official Plan, a Pian of Subdivision, a Consent, a Minor Variance or a Minister's Zoning Order. If a person or public body that files an appeal of a decision of the Township of Manvers in respect of the proposed zoning By-law does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Manvers before the proposed zoning By-law is adopted, the Ontario Municipal Board may dismiss all or part of the appeal.
