Ben MeCaffery was the lone scorer for the Reynolds team, with assists going to Otto Akeson and Brad Cornelisscn. The streak started December 19 with a solid 3-2 win over Skylight Donuts. Greg Quinlan, Ben MeCaffery, and Nick Vandcrduim each scoring one goal. Assists going to Jeff Reynolds, Pat Quinlan, Kyle Denison and Otto Akeson. On December 20, Reynolds lied Skylight 4-4 on two goals each by Greg Quinlan and Ben MeCaffery. Assists to Jon Nozdryn, Jeff Reynolds, Pat and Greg Quinlan. On December 27, against Aamco, the team came away with a 4-2 win. Goal scorers were Ben MeCaffery (2), Brad Cornelisscn and Jeff Reynolds. Peter Andreas, Kyle Denison, Jeff Reynolds, Greg and Pal Quinlan with one assist each. The fourth game was against Rcedtronics. The game ended 0-0. The shutout was well earned by Scott Maxwell. Excellent job by defencemen Chris Staples, Graham Flctt, Peter Andreas, Jou Nozdryn and Pat Quinlan. Forwards Joe Dawson, Matt Carcfoote and Brad Cornelisscn created a number of scoring opportunities. Game live was a return match against Rcedtronics. The Reynolds team took a three goal lead with goals by Jeff Reynolds, Greg Quinlan and Nick Vandcrduim. Assists going to Matt Carcfoote, Graham Flctt, Nick Vandcrduim, Ben MeCaffery and Pal Quinlan. Rcedtronics scored two for an exciting 3-2 final. Game six had Reynolds Plumbing up against Bowmanville Sand & Gravel. Reynolds took a three goal lead with goals scored by Graham Flctt, Nick Vandcrduim and Otto Akeson. With Scott Maxwell playing shutout hockey, the team left him on his own for the last, couple of minutes allowing Sand & Gravel to score twice. The coaching staff of Larey Reynolds, John Denison and Russ Maxwell arc very pleased with the performance performance and attitude of these young men. Of the 30 league, tournament and exhibition games played to date, 10 of these have been penally free, which is very unusual in Bantam hockey. CMHA Calendar Winners for February We showed you the winning goal in last week's Statesman, but those combatants and hardy fans of the Milton's U- Brew World Backyard Hockey Championships deserve some publicity as well for perseverance under difficult playing playing conditions. The Optimist Flames ended the regular regular season with a win over Clarington Kaitlin Group. Jana Cryderman led the Optimists Black Attack by scoring both goals in the 2-0 win. Michelle Harris, Leah Farr, Courtney Hamilton, and Ashley Gendron did some hard work on a goal. Crystal Fraser, Carley Nemisz, Sorena Michaud and Sam Lcggot worked hard on the second goal. Superb shutout goaltending by Ashlee Beattie kept the Optimists in the game. The game was won by the hard effort of the fast skating, hard shooting forwards forwards Brittney Richards, Rosemary Quinlan, Ashley Gendron, Kandace and Jalana Blakkcr, Tiffany Thornton and the solid defensive effort from Angie Hass. The girls finished the season on a winning note. They have been successful successful in defeating and tieing the tough Oshawa rep teams. The Optimist Flames Atom girls have been accepted to represent Clarington in the 18th Annual Walter Gretzky tournament to be played at the Wayne Gretzky Center in Brantford from March 5-7. Teams from Canada and the USA will be represented. Coaches Peter Hamilton, Dan Quinlan, Jim Michaud, trainer Shirley Farr, manager Margarite Quinlan, and the parents of the girls arc all very proud of their season and look forward to a good playoff performance. The Toros were missing a couple of players due to illness which gave coach Ralph Murphy a chance to experiment with his lineup. The results were a success as the strong offence came to life in both games to compliment compliment the tight work of the defence. In the first game, David Miller led the way with a hat-trick while Allen Dillon and Brock Murhpy scored a pair each to pace the Toros to a 8-1 victory. victory. In the second game, Brandon Castellan and Murphy fired a pair each to give the Toros a 6-1 victory. Goalies Scott Junkin and Jory Fuller provided rock solid goaltending in both games. Grand and Toy Wins Grand and Toy came back strong after taking quite the beating from Clarington's Grant's Physiotherapy in a 6-0 loss. Grand and Toy came out with a strong desire to win against Crow's Sports. Early in the first period Erin Haass made a beautiful pass out front to Michelle Walker who put the puck right by the goalie. Then Haass, taking the puck out of Grand and Toy's end, managed to get an unassisted goal. Then, Heather Bangay got the third goal, assisted by Lauren Crashlcy. Early in the second Crow's managed to put one past Grand and Toy's goalie, Sarah Ferguson. With only 40 seconds left in the second period, Maridy Forscy broke away from the defence and managed to pass the puck to Michelle Walker, giving Clarington a 4-2 win.
