The Senate is responsible for recruiting and selecting the student trustee who will serve the 1999-2000 term. The Senate interviews interested candidates. Application forms were sent to all schools. This is secondary students' last chance to apply for the position for the next school year. Applications must be in by Thursday, March 11. To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age and they must be registered in and attending a Kawartha Pine Ridge secondary school full time. Applicants under age 18 must obtain parental permission permission and consult with their principal and parents or guardians to ensure the role will have a positive impact on the student's regular school program. The student trustee attends all public Board meetings, participates in Board discussions, receives and reviews regular copies of Board agenda agenda packages, and reports back to the Student Senate and receives input from the group. The student trustee docs not attend in camera sessions, or bring forward or vote on motions. The term of office will run from Sept. 1, 1999 until August 31, 2000,. President Bragg also noted that individual members, of the club are supplying additional support to the Valleys 2000 initiative initiative at a personal level.
