TV' Mae Estelle Leask October 6,1898 - March 4,1999 Estelle Lumb was born on October 6, 1898 to Janet (Mather) and Eli Lumb at Fort Stewart, Ontario, east of Bancroft. Eli and Janet owned a eneral store at Fort Stewart. Estelle spent her early years there. She attended Albert College in Belleville. Later she worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia in Bancroft and the Bank of Montreal in Toronto. In 1930 Estelle married William James Leask and lived on Ryland Farm at Taunton for eighteen years. They raised five children. William died in 1947. Estelle sold the farm and moved to Bowmanville with her children. She worked in Bowmanville at The Canadian Statesman. She then established and operated her own successful real estate brokerage "M.E. Leask Real Estate" for 15 years in Bowmanville. Estelle retired and moved to Oshawa in 1968 where she enjoyed her retirement by travelling extensively, enjoying friends and especially family and as always was very active in church activities. In later years Estelle conducted a Bible Study group at Parkview Seniors' Residence in Oshawa where she lived. The Bible group continued for eight years. Estelle will be sadly missed. She was an inspiration to everyone as a devout Christian, a mother, grandmother and friend. She touched many lives in her one hundred years with her strength, good morals, humour, caring for others and her Christian beliefs. Estelle died peacefully at Extendicare, Oshawa, on Thursday, March 4,1999. Beloved wife of William James Leask. Dear mother of William and his wife Barbara of Oshawa, Robert and his wife Beverley of Oshawa, Marilyn Marshall'and her husband Jack of Oshawa and Donald and his wife Dianne of Oakville. Predeceased by her daughter Barbara Cassel. Lovingly remembered by seventeen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great, great grandson. Predeceased by her sister Sarah Lebeau and brothers Ewart Lumb, Dr. Stead Lumb, and Dr. Crother Lumb. Funeral service was conducted at Northminster United Church, Oshawa, on Monday, March 8, 1999.
