The following night they downed Orono 10-3 and returned home for a 9-0 victory in the third game to sweep the scries and advance to the Ontario quarter-finals. Newcastle waited for what seemed like weeks for the second round to begin. Finally, on February 18, the team took to the ice for their opening quarter-final game against the Fenclon Falls Flyers.
