Our special exhibit is the Teddy Bear Museum Acquires Bear-y Old Stuffed Toy The Bowmanvillc Museum recently purchased a 1916 teddy bear, complete complete with original eyes, straw stuffing and mohair fabric. "There are so many good people who work at Durham Region. Everyone got on board and helped out in their individual departments once we began coordinating the campaign.- Response was excellent," she said. "1 would hope to continue as Coordinatoi for another year. I think two years in the position would be ideal, and then il would be time to move over and mentor mentor another leader for the project." Sharon Swain, Director of Services for Seniors, praised Lazary's initiative and perseverance. She acknowledged that while raising funds has been challenging challenging in the past few years in all parts of the volunteer sector, Lazary had accomplished a benchmark by raising the funds 1.4%. "We are so proud ol her," she said. Collection, of Beverley Vyc. It features 101 teddy bears of all shapes and sizes. Old bears, collectible bears, and famous bears arc all included. The Bowmanvillc Teddy Bear Connection will be set up in the dining room. They will be showing and selling their homemade homemade bears. If you've ever wondered how to make a bear, or had questions about teddy bears then these are the people to ask. They arc raffling a teddy bear and other prizes too! Raffle tickets cost only $1.00 per ticket. The Museum Shop is well stocked in Beanie Babies and we will be holding our draw for a basket of seven Beanie Bears and a basket of the new Easter bunnies. The Region of Durham's United Way Team has released their final 1998 campaign figures, and is pleased to announce that contributions from Regional employees surpassed the 1997 campaign figures by an impres sive 14%. In total, 3070 employees pledged, donated and contributed to events that raised $88,648.34 for the United Way. Garry Cubitl, Durham Region's CAO, congratulated the team on their 2nd Anniversary for Clarington Project The Clarington Project held its 2nd.Annual Gala on Saturday, March 27, 1999. Over 125 people attended the dinner and dance in celebration of the Clarington Project's success. This accomplishment is based on the partnerships the group has with community groups, businesses and volunteers. This evening was an opportunity for the organization to thank everyone who has supported their project in the past year. The Gala was held at St. Joseph's Hall in Bowmanville, which was donated by St. Joseph's Church. The catering was done by King Street Bar and Grill and the music was provided by Perfect Sound. Archibald Winery was in attendance at the Gala, providing some wine samples to those in attendance. Of course, the past year's success is mainly due to the great team of volunteers, volunteers, parents and participants at the Clarington Project and we want to publicly thank them as well. The Clarington Project supports adults and children who have a developmental developmental disability and reside in the Clarington area.
