Quinney ol Newcastle, Newcastle, age 75 years, died on March 17, 1999, at Sun- nybrook Health Science Centre Centre as a result of injuries sustained sustained in an accident. He was born March 5, 1924 in Darlington Township (Providence), (Providence), the oldest of 7 children children born to Cyril W. Quinney and Alice May Gwilliam. In 1956, Hov/ard married Kaye Fenton, residing in Newcastle Newcastle Village. Howard was educated at Providence and Central Public Public Schools and Bowmanville High School. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1941, serving overseas for two years. After discharge in 1945, Howard graduated as a barber, operating a shop in Newcastle from 1946 until 1970. He also managed the Newcastle Arena for three winters. Howard and Kaye operated a Stedman franchise franchise from 1971 until retirement retirement in 1989 in the Village. Howard was a member of the Newcastle Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow since 1996; the Royal Canadian Canadian Legion Branch 178, Bowmanville; Masonic Order Durham Lodge 66; and the Newcastle Ratepayers Association. Association. He had proudly served as a Director of the Parkview Seniors Home for 15 years, and served many years on the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce and the Newcastle BIA. Howard's retirement was spent enjoying life - the cottage, cottage, golf, biking, and his great passion, hockey. Old Timers Hockey gave him many years of pleasure. Howard will be lovingly remembered remembered by his wife Kaye, their sons Paul (and Maryse) of Kanata, Dan (and Laura) of Burlington; their grandchildren grandchildren Patrick, Elyse and Johanna; and by his sisters Ada, Bernice, June, Margaret, his brother Cyril, and their families. He was predeceased by his brother Fred.
