Members of the Bowmanvillc community arc registering, rais- ' ing pledges and getting ready to enjoy food, fun and festivities on Sunday, April 18th at the 1999 Bowmanvillc Super Cities WALK for MS. ' The Durham Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society invites you, your family and friends to WALK or volunteer on April 18th at this fabulous event. Bowmanvillc High School will be the gathering place for WALKcrs and volunteers on 'Sunday, April 18, 1999 as they enjoy food and entertainment before venturing out along the 6 km wheelchair wheelchair accessible route or the more challenging 12 km route. Both routes travel through residential streets and include rest stops to refresh and reboot. The day concludes with a barbecue lunch courtesy courtesy of Loblaws. Proceeds from the Bowmanvillc Super Cities WALK for MS support the MS Society's research and fund local support programs for people with MS and their families. The Society meets the needs of people with MS in their own communities through its 49 chapters chapters and units in Ontario. The Durham Chapter provides accurate and up-to-date information, helps people with MS in their every day activities, provides support groups and otherwise strives to enable people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life. Since its founding 50 years ago in 1948, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada has been a leader in funding MS research and providing services to people with MS throughout Canada. In 1995, the Canadian government approved one type of beta interferon for people with rclapsing-rcmitting MS that has been shown to reduce the frequency and severity of MS attacks.
