Fifty Golden Years of Harmony was this year's presentation, featuring The Dukes of Harmony, 2 time International Chorus Champions and four quartets - Tri-city Slickers, Fifty- Fifty, Tickcty-Boo and our own Country Four. In celebration celebration of 50 years singing barbershop harmony, the Osliawa Chorus has produced a twenty-song recording available in both CD and cassette cassette tape. Rock On! Twenty-one members of the youth group at Newcastle United Church look to their rocking chairs on Friday night for a fund-raising Rock-a-Thon. Working in shifts, the group kept the rocking chairs in motion all evening, ending the marathon with a breakfast Saturday morning. Meetino There were 16 ladies present for our evening meeting in the C.E. room of Tyrone Church. Elsie Roy read the minutes and Jean Slcmon gave the treasurer's report and collected collected the offering. Sandra Milne led a worship of prayer, reading part of Psalm 104, the hymn "For The Fruit Of All Creation" and readings with emphasis on 'spring' - a time for new beginnings, new life and new hopes. Our guest was Mina Bruinsma of Tyrone who came here from Holland several years ago. She and her husband recently built a new home and she promptly started a garden of vegetables, herbs and flowers. Her husband has bees and both of them arc making the most of nature's gifts. She told us of the many uses they have found for their honey, herbs for cooking and medicinal purposes and making soap; also the use of flower petals in craft items and even in dying wool. Mina also raises goats and makes good use of their milk. She is looking forward to spring and growing a variety of useful plants in her garden. These are people who really make the most of God's gifts to us. Sandra Milne Enniskillen News Yard and Bake Sale Planned for June by Betty Wright We tape portions of our Sunday ■ services. The tapes include the Prayer of Affirmation and Sermon for each Sunday. The tapes arc made available the week following the service and can be taken for personal use or to share with those who cannot get out to church. You are asked to return the tapes within two weeks or, if you choose to keep the tape, contribute $ 1.50 so that we can replace the tape. . The Enniskillen Stewards would like to thank all those who helped sell and all those who bought plastic wrap. A community shower will be held on Monday, May 3rd at 7:30 p.m. in the church basement for Darryl Mackenzie and Adria Bicknell. The Annual Salad Supper will be held on May 15th and the Sunday School Anniversary Service will be held on May 16th. More details at a later dale. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wright and Betty were pleasantly surprised on Sunday evening when the door bell rang and there stood one of our former Minister's Reverend Joe Lalavc from Westvillc, Nova Scotia, We enjoyed our brief visit with him catching up with what the family are up lo these days. Nikki filled in for her Dad at the pulpit at their church while he was away on Sunday. Mrs. Wilfrid Bowman recently visited visited with Reverend and Mrs. R. B. Green, Kingston. Several from the area enjoyed the dinner at Solina on Sunday evening. Aunt Marguerite Wright has received a 25 year 1999 Ontario Volunteer Service Award - certificate and pin, nominated by Hillsdale Manor.
