Recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sharpe, were her sister and her mother, Francis VanderKooy (her sister) and Marie Stockec her mother, visiting from Holland. Quite a number of Orono folks attended "My Fair Lady" last Tuesday night and on Wednesday night a busload busload of Orono folks attended Oshawa Little Theatre's "Joseph and the Amazing Dream Coat". As this was live theatre, the colors and music were great! Tuesday, May 4, in main hall of Orono United Church, the ladies of Unit #3 held their regular meeting early and at 2:30, along with other ladies, enjoyed a fun-time "Silent Auction". There were 3 tables of crafts, gifts and delicious baking! While the ladies were shopping, Joyce Gray played the. piano and it was much enjoyed by all. All proceeds will be used for our units redecorating the washrooms. Our gracious thanks to all who helped with this job! The busy members of Orono Horticulture Society held their annual "buffet.dinner" "buffet.dinner" on Wednesday, May 5. The tables looked most attractive with spring flowers. There was a delicious menu, of ham, turkey, all various salads and both hot and cold. Well over 100 were in attendance. This is a fundraising fundraising event and is a very popular popular event. Our upcoming May 20 meeting is a Spring Flower Show, Congratulations to all hard-working members! Heather Rebekah Lodge Celebrates 52 Years On Tuesday evening April 13, Heather Rebekah Lodge celebrated our 52nd Birthday. We had two distinguished guests, Sister Barbara Montgomery, District Deputy President of District No. 8 Oshawa East, was escorted by sister Carole Boyd and welcomed. welcomed. Brother Walter Griffin, District Deputy Grand Master of District 41, escorted by sister Lorna Atkins and welcomed by the Noble Grand. Guests were present from Beehive Lodge Bowmanville, Ganaraska Lodge Port Hope, Maybelle Lodge Port Perry and Sunshine Lodge Oshawa. Sister Marion gave a report on the District Meeting held in Port I-Iopc. Sister Bertha gave a report on the Beef Dinner served to the Dyer busload. Sister Connie reported on the Rutherford Birthday Party. Sister Bertha reported our quilt had been finished and tickets will be ready in the near future. Brother Griffin reported on the Grand Masters project which is playground equipment equipment for Rainbow Camp. A donation was made and it was suggested we could maybe get a busload from our district to go to an open house in July. We were asked to cater to several events coming up and accepted. Birthday greeting were sung to three members, Sisters Alice, Marion and Gwen. Brother Griffin read a poem on "Old Age" which was enjoyed by all. Sister Olive Millson was presented with her 50 year jewel by Sister Barbara Montgomery on behalf of our Lodge and Sister Olive reminisced about her lodge years and how she has enjoyed them. Sister Isabelle Trim was presented a gift for 35 years and Sisters Bernice Stark and Wilma Gatchell, (absent) for 20 years. Sister Lorna Atkins and Sister Connie Hooey received roses for 10 years. Sympathy of the community community to May and Jim Tabb in the loss of their aunt, Mrs. Stephanie Tabb, Bowmanville. Funeral was held Saturday, May 8th from Morris Funeral Chapel. A long awaited good amount of rain came over here on Saturday morning and most of the day. More really needed, but the amount of growth is amazing! Many old favourites and one we had just heard the other night in Oshawa's "Joseph and The Dreamcoat" theatre, "Any dream will do!" It is sure good to see and hear the band with us again.
