Ontario Power Generation Captures Corporate Award Ontario Power Generation (OPG) became the first corporation to win the EDCO Corporate Appreciation Award at the Summer Meeting of the Council at Elmhurst Resort near Peterborough, Ontario. The Award was launched to express the .appreciation of the EDCO (Economic Developers Council of Ontario Inc.) and its members for the support that Ontario Power Generation has given in the economic development efforts in the Province of Ontario. This award will highlight key companies companies that have had a major impact on EDCO and the development industry at large. Ontario Power Generations' efforts come not only from their economic development officers but from the upper echelon executives as well. Ontario Power Generation is a founding member of Team Ontario, created Sites Ontario (which generates business enquiries daily), offered courses on electricity, participated in trade shows, sponsored the Economic Development Achievement Award, been a great supporter of the EDCO Exchange and the EDCO website, and have developed a wonderful network with local economic development professionals. High School-Bound Twenty-nine students made up Knox Christian School's graduating class of 1999. The graduation graduation ceremony was held Thursday night, June 24th, with family members and friends gathered for dinner beforehand. The students are flanked by their teacher, and the school's principal, George Petrusma. GM Donates $300,000 A donation of $300,000 from General Motors of Canada Limited was among those enabling the Breakthrough Health Care Campaign in the Niagara Region to come within reach of its $7.5 million fund-raising goal to build a Centre for Diagnostic Imaging Services in St, Catharines. Of the official opening of the new centre at the St. Catharines General Hospital that was held June 27th Maureen Kemptson Darkes, GM of Canada's president and general manager, manager, said that, "At one time or another, another, I am certain that practically all of GM of Canada's St. Catharines employees or members of their families, families, have needed the services of the St. Catharines General Hospital.
