It got off to a sunny start. But, by mid-afternoon, mid-afternoon, a number of thunder storms, complete with heavy rains and lightning, swept through the area. Many north Bowmanvillc residents were left without power for just over two hours, says Clarington Hydro Manager Dave Clarke. Power went out at 3:35 p.m., "during the heat of the storm," and was restored at 5:47 p.m., notes Clarke. The power loss resulted from a problem in supply from Ontario Hydro Services, Clarke says. "There was a problem with some of their equipment at a station in Oshawa," which meant the power supply to north Bowmanvillc was cut off, says Clarke. "It took a while to rectify that problem." Clarke says Clarington Hydro workers were on standby throughout the outage, in order to restore power as soon as the supply problem was repaired. No one from Ontario Power Services was available for comment.
