Top Ten Finish for MacDonald-Cadieux It is a good thing the Terry MacDonald- Cadieux racing team has bad luck, or they would not have luck at all. At the Toronto Molson Indy, the team changed a motor and started last, was involved in a 17 car crash, got a flat tire, and was black flagged. Despite all this, Terry still managed to pull off a top ten finish. After qualifying for the first race, Terry was 14th on the grid. But crew chief Ed O'Brien was concerned about the engine. They pressure tested tested the cylinders and used a scope to look inside the motor. O'Brien though they might have a piston ring damaged. Terry did not want to hurt her points for Sunday's race, so Frank Del Vecchio drove the Snap-On Tools Pontiac for four laps during the qualifying race to sec if the engine was truly hurt. O'Brien didn't want to take the chance of blowing up a great motor, so he opted to change it. That night, the team worked into the wee hours taking taking the motor out, driving two hours away to pick up the spare motor. On Sunday morning they put the backup backup motor in. Sunday morning the scries reverted their decision to let Terry start at the back of the Grand Sports class. "I was told that I could start 19th, the last Grand Sports car. But two hours before the race was to start, they told me 1 was to start 43rd," said MacDonald- Cadieux. "1 was not happy about their decision. Being faster than 22 smaller cars and trying to get around them wasn't going to be easy." As the green flag dropped, Terry passed cars and was up to about 30th, then turn one came. A Porsche was into the wall, and the accidents followed. "As cars plodded plodded into me, 1 hit other cars. As soon as I could move, I got out of their. But 1 had a flat tire," said MacDonald- Cadieux. When the race was over, TMC Motorsports managed managed to finish 10th in class, and 11th overall. Terry won most improved car of the race, coming from the back three times. ^ul„s love SUMMER PROGRAMS JULY ■ AUGUST Garnet B.
