When the words "farm accident" arc associated with "Sunnybrook Hospital" everyone in a rural community fears the worst. However, favourable progress is reported for Steve Grove, who suffered a farm accident this week and is indeed a patient in Sunnybrook Hospital. Without doubt, there will be a lengthy recuperation period, but Steve and his many friends hope for a complete recovery. Best wishes, Steve. This past weekend kept local residents very busy with the Highland of Durham events, Rivcrfcst in Lindsay, the Janetvillc activities and other social events. Herman and Eunice Rodman of Little Britain celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday with an Open House at their lovely new home. Several from the Blackstock area attended this happy event. Congratulations, Eunice and Herman. Next weekend will be another busy weekend with the holding of the 71st annual Lake Scugog Regatta and Field Day at Caesarea on July 31 and August 1. Be sure to see one of the programs which lists all of the events, times and locations. Pleased to report that Marie Gibson is home again from her stay in Port Perry Hospital and is continuing her recovery at home. Harold and Dora Martyn, Blair and Janet Martyn, Tim and Brian have returned from a most enjoyable holiday in their motor home to Vancouver. En route both ways they toured many, many points of interest. There were 11+3 at the weekly Tuesday evening euchre party with the following results - Edna Manns with a high of 90 points, Irene Hoffman, Mary Henderson, Norman Rohrcr, Reid Harness, Norma Watts and Marj Davies. Lucky draws were won by Eileen McLaughlin, Norman Rohrcr, May Shortridgc, Audrey Mahaffy, Edna Manns and Dorothy Olan. 4-H Serves Breakfast at School Reunion Solina News by Harvey Yellowlees "Reaching high keeps a man on his toes." Wednesday evening at Hampton cards they had 15 tables +2 and many awards were given out - which are as follows - High, Elaine Doty 89, Barb Cochrane 88, Don Cochrane 85, Fred Griffin 83, Ruth Gay 82. Many thanks to the ladies who have looked after the card parties this past season. It has been a good night out. I'm not very well posted on Solina Sports results. I do know the Bantam Girls #1 won their game Thursday night and also Tuesday night. About 21 members and husbands of the W.I. enjoyed the picnic at the home of Frank and Donna Barkey. Also on Sunday was the Taylor family picnic at the Baseline Community Centre. Over 80 relatives enjoyed a bountiful potluck dinner. Lori (Cryderman) Landon and her helpers gave out table prizes and conducted games for the children. At Eldad service on Sunday Lloyd and Marion Broome were the greeters and Bernice Watson the lay reader. Brendan Robert John Luke, son of Robert and Kathleen Luke was welcomed welcomed by Baptism. Reverend Munro will be on holidays in August. Hampton and Eldad congregations may attend Zion or the church of their choice for that time. In conjunction with the Solina School Reunion to be held August 6 and 7th there will be a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, August 7th from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. at the Solina Hall. This is sponsored by the Solina 4- H Club. All proceeds go towards the 4- H programme. Come and enjoy pancakes pancakes and sausages while you visit with your neighbours and friends. A few friends, George and Helen Gilroy, Doris Flett and Charles and Alma Langmaid visited Vi Ashton on Sunday.
