The topic is "Focus on Women," heart health, risks, signs and prevention. The event runs from l :30 to 3 p.m. at the Clarington Beech Centre, 26 Beech Avenue in Bowmanville. SEPT. 30 A Weigh Down Workshop at Crossroads Christian Assembly will begin at 7 p.m. The weight control program orientation meeting will take place at the church, 978 North St., Newcastle. OCT. 2 The Newcastle Fall Festival offers all-day activities, starting with the Firelighters' Pancake Breakfast in the Community Hall at 8 a.m., and the Newcastle Lions Walk-a-dog-a-thon at 9 a.m. There will also be a craft sale in the Hall starting at 9 a.m. All-day activities on the street include the BIA Bed Races, an antique car show, jumping castle for the kids, a visit from an elephant from Bowmanville Zoo, and lots of musical entertainment, entertainment, fun and food. There will also be a bike rodeo and registration. The day finishes with a licensed YUK YÜK'S performance in the Community Hall. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $ 15 each, and arc available at Stcd- rnan's at 20 King St. E. in Newcastle. The fall and winter craft and gift show will be held at Pontypool United Church on John Street in Pontypool from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Light refreshments, refreshments, door prizes, and a children's craft table will be available. The Courtice Parks Baseball and Softball Association will hold its year- end dance at the Courtice Community Complex from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets Tickets are $10 a person, which includes a buffet. OCT. 3 The Clarington Project, supporting people with developmental disabilities will hold a fundraising day at Ted Watson's Farm from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Bowmanville Kinsmen and Kinetic Clubs arc holding their annual Colour Tour for senior citizens. Buses will leave from Trinity United Church at 1 p.m. and return to the church for refreshments and entertainment. OCT. 5 The Clarington Beech Centre presents presents live theatre. The next play by the Smile Theatre is "Toe-Tappin' Time," the words and music of Dinah Christie.
