And no one was more surprised surprised than she when her work began getting recognition from patrons of her daughter's Bowmanville store. "I've never taken any art lessons," she admits. "I do it strictly for me. When my daughter, Sandy, opened her shop (The Natural Nut) she pul my paintings up. Suddenly, out of the blue, people started buying them. I couldn't believe it." There was one work in particular that seemed to garner extra attention but neither the artist nor her daughter was willing to part with it. "I was given a very large canvas by my friend Anna who owns Brush Strokes (art store) in Oshawa. Someone Someone had brought it back. I went away with it and out came this painting. It just emerged. It has turtles, llsh, all sorts of creatures, eats and you can't tell whether its in water or in air. "Just at the time I was finishing the canvas, Princess Diana died and a week later Mother Teresa died. Three hundred numbered prints are now available. From the sales of the $50 prints, $5 from each will go toward toward Bclhcsda House, a women and children's shelter in Claringlon. After 11 a.m., some licensing transactions, such as plate renewals, will continue to be available. However, payment must be made by cash or cheque only. Licensing services that will not be available include: • renewing driver's licences • replacing driver's licences • replacing vehicle or plate permits • issuing first-time driver's licences • changing/correcting vehicle identification numbers (VIN) • obtaining a Used Vehicle Information Package (UVIP) • obtaining driver, vehicle and carrier abstracts • ordering Own Choice Plates • exchanging out-of-province driver's licences • changing licence classes or endorsements • booking road tests by telephone Carrier licensing services for the trucking industry that will not bo available include: • issuing Commercial Vehicle Operators Registration (CVOR) certificates, Truck Transportation Act and Motor Vehicle Transportation Act and Motor Vehicle Inspection Station licences • replacing or changing CVOR certificates, operating licences and Motor Vehicle Inspection Station licences MTO services provided through ServiceOntario kiosks will not be available from li a.m. on Friday, December 31,1999 until noon on Sunday, January 2,2000.
