The trees will augment a trail system also being set up to keep people from "troniping all over the place, destroying sensitive plants" and disturbing wildlife, notes Mr. Ranee. Planting has already started, he adds. "Some school groups were out last week planting raspberries, which are a good barrier." When the nature area was first started, the Municipality of Clarington did an environmental environmental management plan for the area, says Mr. Ranee. "This is a start to implementing the plan." The Samuel Wilmot Nature area is made up of about 190 acres of land owned by the Municipality Municipality of Clarington, Ministry Ministry of Natural Resources and Ontario Hydro. Two walks are scheduled, from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. Guy Morey, a committee member, will provide a guided tour through the site, offering information on the habitat and various plant and animal species.
