Take a hike towards better health The Durham Region Health Department Department is encouraging local residents to map out a route towards becoming more physically active. The second edition of the Trails Durham Region map is now available and the local health unit is hoping community community members will use the region's trails to increase their physical activity. "Our goal is to encourage individuals to use the map to work towards participating participating in some form of physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day, seven days a week," said public health nurse Shawn Woods. 'This map identifies accessible and inexpensive venues to participate in various forms of physical activity right here in Durham Region." The map provides information on 29 trails throughout the Region, as well as 12 suggested cycling routes and 12 area beaches. Each trail detailed in the map outlines information such as llie length, level of difficulty, surface types, access points, points of interest and a list of contacts for more information. Copies of the Trails Durham Region map are available free of charge at several several locations throughout Durham.
