In round robin play, the Toros won two out of three games. The victories came over Rochester and St. Catharines while the only blemish on the weekend was a loss to Brantford. The Toros started the tournament with a 7-0 win over Rochester. Goalies Nathan Flint and Zach Higgins Higgins shared the shutout. Leading the offensive output output was Greg Nemisz with three goals and two helpers, followed by Matthew Garrison and James Hoffman with two goals each. Collecting as sists were Nicholas Diachenko, Diachenko, Aaron Pierce and Alex Dcrlis. In the second game, the Toros won 3-2 against St. Catharines. Clarington goalie Flint made several outstanding saves to keep the Toros ahead. Scoring were Nemisz with two and defenceman Chad McDonald McDonald with a single. Adding assists were Derlis with two and Diachenko with one. The final round robin game pitted Clarington against Brantford. Garrison had the only goal in a 3-l loss. After finishing second in the division, the Toros faced Kitchener in the semi-finals. Two goals in the third period by Hoffman Hoffman and Garrison lifted the Toros to a 3-1 win. Nemisz had the other goal. In a rematch against Brantford in the finals, Hoffman scored twice in a 6-3 win. Nemisz, Garrison, Diachenko Diachenko and Derlis scored one each. Nearing the halfway mark in the schedule, the scoring leader is Boyd with 30 points, followed by Kris Poison Poison and Chris McDaniel. "I went to a race and raced, and then went to another another and liked it. I signed up for the club the next year," says the Grade 9 student student at Courtice Secondary School. While most of the races vary in distance, Hamilton can find himself racing up to four times a day if he enters enters a couple of other optional optional categories. With races held in Peterborough, Cobourg and various other towns, Hamilton's favourite part of a race is flying through the air after going over a big jump. "When you shoot up in the air, you can really feel it in yoiir stomach," he says of the thrill. Under the tutelage of his uncles, John Sharrard and Mark Orchard, both former competitive road racers, Hamilton hopes to move up to the expert division next year and compete against the top riders in the club.
