Two games -- two losses. Not only did the Eagles drop a pair of Provincial Junior League games this weekend, but it suffered the ultimate ultimate embarrassment of losing to the lowly Port Hope Clippers, who had won only two games this season prior to facing the Eagles. Saturday night, the Eagles dropped a 6-3 decision in Port Hope, followed by a 6-2 setback.to the division leading Lindsay Muskies. at . the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex on Sunday Sunday night. "It was a lost weekend by all means," said coach Curtis Hodgins, who was incensed with his team's play in both games. In the overall scheme of things, the two losses didn't alter the current standings. The Eagles are still seventh with 41 points, two ahead of Syracuse who are in the eighth and final playoff spot. An eighth-place finish would likely mean an opening round playoff series against Lindsay, something both teams would rather avoid. Bowmanville did look like it could play with Lindsay for much of Sunday's Sunday's tilt, heading to the third period tied 2-2. But an undisciplined roughing roughing after the whistle penalty by Eagles' Eagles' defenceman Bill Burgio five minutes into the third period opened the floodgates, as. Lindsay scored on the power, play, to break the, tie, and added three more before the end of the '(Lindsay) has the best power play in the league and we were undisciplined the whole night. "We can't afford those kind of mistakes," mistakes," said Hodgins of the late-game collapse. "Those are the things that separate good teams from mediocre teams. Hopefully we've learned our lesson because it has happened way tod much lately." Hodgins added that the momentum Lindsay gained from.the power play goal set the tone for the remainder of the period. On the night, Lindsay had eight power play chances, cashing in on two of them. Lindsay also scored two shorthanded goals. The 30-year-old began writing the book in 1996, and although it went smoothly, he did wonder if the fin ished product would ever hit the store shelves. After submitting the book to a California publisher in 1998, he has waited anxiously for more than two years to get a final copy. He says the publisher was receptive receptive to the book because it portrayed the martial arts in a way that many others didn't. "The basics are always shown, but nobody likes to reveal any secrets," says Gibson of the format most other martial arts books follow. Much of his book deals with advanced techniques techniques and is something that "world champions and high level elite competitors competitors could use to advance.
