As club captain at the long-defunct Grandview golf course in southeast Oshawa in the late 1960s, Pratt got a phone call one day. Grandview was supposed to play host to an Ontario Ladies' Golf Association Association District 13 meeting the following day. But, due to a death in the family, the chairman of District 13 couldn't attend attend the meeting, so she called on Pratt to spearhead the session. "I said I could probably fumble through it," says Pratt. Fast forward some 30 years. Since that innocent day more than three decades ago, Pratt has been a force in amateur ladies golf in this province. "I really didn't understand the Canadian Canadian Ladies' Golf Association or the OLGA at the time. I was playing golf at Grandview, learning the game," says Pratt. But after that first meeting, Pratt went on to serve in just about every capacity within the OLGA - starting as course handicap convener, course rating convener, convener, course tournament convener, dis trict chairman, OLGA assistant tournament tournament director and tournament director on the way to taking over the top posts in the organization. She climbed the volunteer volunteer ladder to become vice-president in 1988-89 before assuming the president's position in 1990-91. Pratt, who along with husband Vic joined Oshawa Golf Club in 1975, says she's "kind of proud," of being recognized recognized by the OLGA. The best part of her lifetime in golf?
