Rickard Recreation Complex any time soon.- While the building serves as the home floor for the Jr. B lacrosse club, it hasn't exactly provided much of an advantage this season. In six games, Clarington is a mediocre 3-3 at home. It's on the road where the team has been dominant, dominant, posting a 5-1 mark including an 11-3 win in Huntsville on Saturday Saturday night. The lack of success at home is a cause for concern right now, considering considering the team plays its next two games in Barrie on Thursday and Mimico Friday. But four of the last six games of the season are at home and may go a long way in determin ing home floor advantage in the playoffs. "I think it is our youth," said general general manager Doug Lucy of the team's inability to make use of home floor advantage. "The players play loose on the road and we arc always flat at home." Noting that the team is going to have to change its pre-game approach approach to try and "shake things up a little bit," Lucy says much of the problem stems from the team not playing a full 60-minute game. "It was the same old story," said Luey. "It was embarrassing to only be up 2-1 after the first period." Burnett, the coach and general manager of the Generals, has been named head coach of Canada's under-18 summer team, which will compete in the Six Nations Tournament Tournament in the Czech Republic in August. August. "It's an opportunity to be involved involved in the summer and doesn't work against my time with the Gen erals," says Burnett. "We're really well-organized and it won't take away from my duties here." This marks Burnett's second tour of duty with the national program. The Port Perry native was head coach of the national junior team briefly in 1998 before accepting an assistant coaching position with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks qf the National National Hockey League. Thirty-four hopefuls will gather for a training camp in Toronto Aug. 1 and 22 players will make the trip to the Czech Republic for the five- game round-robin tournament, which runs Aug. 13-19. Barry Trapp, head of scouting for the Canadian TIockcy Association,- will identify the 34 invitees to the camp. Most of the players invited likely took part in last year's world under-17 event in the Maritimes, notes Burnett.
