But as fate would have it, Newmarket Newmarket won the final series two games to one. Fast forward to this season, and Clarington was hoping to gain revenge revenge for the upset of a year ago. ■After a 16-2 regular season, the trek toward a championship began by ousting Pickering in the opening opening round of playoffs. When Newmarket eliminated Markham, it set up a rematch of last year's final. There was very little difference- between the teams over the first five games of the six-point series. Clarington opened with a 6-2 win, but then Newmarket rallied in the next three games earning a 4-4 tie and wins of 4-3 and 4-1. On the, brink of elimination, Clarington extended the series to a sixth and deciding game by winning winning Game 5 of the series on home ice 3-1. With the series tied five points each, the deciding game was played in Newmarket where no opposing opposing team had won all season. Clarington jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage and led throughout the game, posting a 4-1 Tadd Evans scored win.
