The board of trade began with a steering committee formed in 1997 which recommended the municipality partner with the business community to allow it to lead economic development for Clarington. In February 1999, the Clarington Board of Trade became a legal entity and two and a half years later, "to sum up, we've come a long way baby," said Mr. Foster. The new board of directors was introduced introduced at the meeting. Directors for the 2001/2002 year are; Ron Collis, Adrian Foster, Paul Halliday, Ron Hooper, Ron Hope, Tom Morawctz, Michael Patrick, Evelyn Rosario, Ma- sood Vatandoust, Hans Verkruisen and John Wells. Joining the board arc Donna Eastwood and Edmond Van- haverbeke. Outgoing directors arc Penny Waghomc and George Khouri.
