When the Brooklin Redmen finally finally got the monkey off their back and beat the Brampton Excelsiors en route to winning the Mann Cup last year, there was talk of many more to come. After all, the team was young and now armed with the knowledge of what it took to win. But a funny thing happened on the way to British Columbia, where the Redmen fully expected to go to defend their national championship in September - a determined Brampton squad bounced back and retook the Ontario Lacrosse Association Association Major Series crown. The Excelsiors wrapped the series series up in six games with an 11-9 win at home Sunday, their third straight victory after falling behind 2-1 to the favoured Redmen. "They outworked us," Redmen ;co-coach Elmer Tran stated simply. "I don't know why our intensity level wasn't as high as theirs. We just didn't have that killer instinct." Indeed, the Redmen had several chances to bury the Excelsiors in the series. After cruising to an 18-8 win in the opener, Brooklin led 7-4 in Game 2 but fell apart and dropped a 13-9 decision. Then, after winning 13-9 at home, the Redmen let a third-period lead disappear disappear in Brampton, where they lost 8-7.
