Charitable Registration Number: Siss, boom, bah Pep rally will celebrate football win for BHS BY BRAD KELLY Spoils Editor BOWMANVILLE - The first win by the Bowmanvillc High School football team after returning to LOSSA play after a lengthy absence is worth celebrating. celebrating. And that's what the team, along with the rest of the school, intends to do. On Friday afternoon, prior to the home game against St. Mary's, the football football team will be holding a pep rally in the school's gymnasium. Among the events that will be taking place from 12:45 to 2 p.m. include chccrlcading demonstrations, tricycle races, a leg- guessing contest where teachers stand behind a curtain with only their legs exposed exposed as students guess an identity, and the introduction of this year's varsity football team. The whole school will be excused from class to attend the rally and watch the game. The pep rally comes on the heels of the team's first win of the season last week against Exeter, a convincing 33-7 triumph. "We played more consistent football the whole game and that was a first for us," says coach Rick Konopka. "We took advantage of (Exeter's) mistakes, and we are getting better." The win improved Bowmanvillc's record to 1-5 on the season. Originally, Bowmanvillc intended to have teams in the junior and senior divisions divisions when it announced a return to high school football. But the numbers weren't high enough in the junior age group lo field a team so the school opted to go with just a senior team. The public is invited to attend the pep rally and game that will kick off at 2:30 p.m. at the school. Bowmanvillc High School is located at 49 Liberty St., N.
