PAGE 16THE CANADIAN STATESMAN, APRIL 3.2002 Bruins know 'what has to be done' Uxbridge will 'come through' in OH A semifinals, says assistant coach BY BRAD KELLY Staff Writer UXBRIDGE - The Uxbridge Bruins Bruins have engaged (he enemy, and after two games of the Ontario Junior C semifinals, aren't about to change anything. That's the feeling of assistant coach Mike Norris after Uxbridge and the Kincardine Bulldogs split the opening two games of their best-of- seven series. Uxbridge opened with a 5-3 home ice win Friday, but fell behind behind early in Game 2 Sunday in Kincardine, Kincardine, falling 6-3. "We aren't about to change what we do," said Norris of the game plan for the remainder of the series. "(The players) know what has to be done and they want it really bad. They'll come through and show everyone." Games will alternate between the two centres after Uxbridge earned the extra home game by winning a coin loss prior to the series opener. Game 3 was played last night in Uxbridge (after Statesman deadline), with Game 4 in Kincardine on Thursday night. The series will shift back to Uxbridge for Game 5 on Saturday night at S: 15 p.m. If sixth and seventh games are required, required, they will be played in Kincardine Kincardine on Monday and Uxbridge on Wednesday, April 10 at 7:45 p.m. re spectively. Mike Hamilton held the hot hand in the series opener, scoring three times in the 5-3 win. David Locke and Matt Shier also scored for Uxbridge, who trailed 3-2 after the first period ' but bounced back to carry a 4-3 lead into the third period. In Game 2 in Kincardine, it was a much different story. Kincardine jumped out to a commanding 5-0 lead, scoring three times in the first 10 minutes of the game, cruising to a 6-3 victory. P.J. Mabley, Trevor Cox and Shier scored in the loss. "In the first 10 minutes we were flat. We weren't in it and things just didn't go right. We were a little uptight," uptight," said Norris of the deep hole Uxbridge dug early in the game. "In the last half of the game we were all over them." As for the remainder of the scries, Norris said Uxbridge "has to shoot the puck more" to be successful and give an "extra effort" to get through to the Ontario finals. Norris also likes the fact that if the series is extended the limit'to a seventh seventh game, it will be in front of the hometown crowd, though he would like to hear a little more noise from the faithful followers. "If it comes down to a seventh game, it will be a big advantage," playing at home, lie said. In the other semifinal, Essex holds the lead after a 5-4 win in Woodstock in Game l. The second game of that best-of-seven series was played last night (Tuesday) in Essex.
