Son of the laic Robert and Ruby Stephens, he was born in Markham, Ontario and attended school in Bowmanville. He served in the R.C.A.F. from 1943 - 1946. Bill worked as a licensed mechanic until 1952 when he joined the C.N.R. and retired in 1982 after 30 years of service as Manager of Express and Transportation. Survived by his wife Kathryn ( nee Moore), four daughters, Linda & Blake Smith, Diane & Ralph Kruger, Bonnie Ensoll and Dale Stephens, 7 sisters and 3 brothers, 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
