With good reason. Two separate fights left the team wondering how long they will be without without two of their star players. Leading scorer Nathan Horton suffered suffered an apparent facial injury and recent acquisition Colt King a hand injury following following fights with Anthony Stewart and Drew Kivell respectively. Horton and Stewart, two of the top NHL draft prospects who were line- mates on Canada's gold medal winning under-18 team this summer, squared off late in the game with Stewart landing a series of heavy blows to bring a quick end to the fight. "It probably shouldn't have happened, happened, but it did," coach and •general manager George Burnett said after the game. "I don't know the circumstances around it. I really couldn't see it because it was in the comer, so 1 don't know much about it." King, a Colorado Avalanche draft pick and national junior team prospect, easily handled Kivell in the first period, but returned for only one shift after having having his hand looked at by Generals trainer trainer Bryan Boyes. X-rays on King's hand were negative and Horton is listed as day-to-day.
