GRAHAM, Susie Viola - The death ol Susie Viola Graham, in her 84th year, peacefully occurred in her home on December 9, 2002. Daughter of the late Lily Maud Yellowlees and Leslie Thompson, she was bom in Tyrone, being the 5th born ol a family ol 8, consisting ol 3 sisters and 4 brothers. In February, 2002, yellow jaundice obstruction surgery was necessary necessary to by-pass a malignant tumour in her pancreas pancreas and diabetes followed by the end ol June. In September she successfully underwent two more bowel resection surgeries wilhin 2 weeks apart to by-pass the existing enlarging tumour and an additional additional tumour in her small bowel. However, a blood clot formed in her right leg after the second surgery. She was hospitalized for two months and returned home for 6 weeks prior to her death. She attended Tyrone School to Grade 8. Prior lo her marriage to the late George Watson Graham in 1939, she worked at Ihe Nurses Residence by the Bowmanville Hospital, which is now the Walk-In Clinic. In 1933 she became Secretary-Treasurer/Pianist ol Young Peoples at St. Paul's Church and later, a member of the UCW, and Leader ol Explorers and CGIT groups. She loved music and was adept at playing the organ, piano, guitar, accordian, autoharp and mouthorgan by ear, having never taken a single lesson. lesson. Remembering her with love are her daughters, Barbara of Sarnia, Georgeann and her husband Peter, Susanne and her husband Gary, all ol Bowmanville, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. great-grandchildren. Ann Meredith of St. Paul's United Church ofliciating. The organ music was so gracefully played by Cory Kuipers, Owner/Funeral Director of Northcutt-Elliot Funeral Home, and all in attendance joined in singing one of Susie's favourite hymns, "How Great Thou Art" as well as Ihe Theme Song from her 80th Birthday, A Caroll Baker tune, "You Can't Be a Beacon II Your Light Don't Shine." The vocalist was Ross Metcalfe who accompanied by Cory Kuipers so elegantly on the organ, beautifully sang two ol Susie's favourite pieces. "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" and "In The Garden". Pallbearers were her grandchildren, James and Sandy Murphy, Bryce McBain, Brandon and Scolt Petrella and her sons-in-law, Peter Petrella and Gary McBain.
