(905)023-2783 Captain's reign winding down Nick Stacey's junior career with Bowmanville Eagles coming to an end BY BRAD KELLY Staff Writer BOWMANVILLE - While the sand is sifting through the hourglass on the Bowmanville Eagles Eagles season, ihe time element has more of a significant meaning for captain Nick Stacey. Not only is this season's end within sight, the end of his career with the Eagles is looming. After four years and 203 career games, the Newcastle resident is winding down a career that has run the gamut, starting as a defenceman, defenceman, making the transition to forward and then being named captain of this year's team. "I try not to think about it too much, but I know it's there and it's in the back of my mind," says Stacey on the subject of his junior days coming to an end. "I just try to go out there, play Nick Stacey: 'I try not to think about it too much.' the game and finish the season. I'll think about it when it's all done." If Sunday's game against the Cobourg Cougars is any indication, indication, Stacey served notice that he won't go out quietly. "We just want to have some jump going into the playoffs. I think we're more than ready. For the last month we've really buckled buckled down." The Eagles finish the season starting in Trenton Friday, home to the Wellington Dukes Sunday at 6:30 p.m. and end in Cobourg Monday.
