Undisciplined play contributes to recent slide BY BRIAN LEGREE Sports Editor OSHAWA - What a difference difference a week makes. Fresh from a weekend in which they won three games in three days, the Oshawa Generals Generals mustered just a tic in three games last weekend, falling 5- 3 in Barrie last Thursday, tying Eric 2-2 on home ice Friday and losing 6-3 to the Kitchener Rangers Sunday at the Civic Auditorium. The Generals, now 26-21 -2- I, have slipped into a tic with Belleville for fourth place in the Eastern Conference, and the schedule doesn't get easier. Oshawa faces another three- gamcs-in-threc-days stretch this weekend, hosting Eastern Conference leading Ottawa (31-II-7-2) Thursday at 7:05 p.m. at the Civic, before travelling travelling to Michigan for games in Saginaw (IO-30-3-7) Friday and Plymouth (3I-10-8-1) Saturday. Saturday. Oshawa coach and general manager George Burnett is growing increasingly frustrated by his team's play. The Generals, Generals, who are I0-14-1 since Dec. Undisciplined play and selfish selfish penalties, along with shoddy defensive play, arc the reasons for Oshawa's poor play, says Burnett. "There arc lots of guys who are obviously putting themselves before the hockey club," says Burnett. ' "It's unfortunate. You've got a building full of people, we can't complain about the support, it's been outstanding. A small group of people are letting the hockey fans of this area down and in the big picture our teammates down. If it was one or two guys, it would be easy to solve. "But this isn't about one or two guys making poor decisions, this is about one-third of our team, maybe more, at different times and it's either going to cor rect itself from within our room or we're going to underachieve big time." GENERALLY SPEAKING: Injury update: Evan Kotsopoulos (finger) could return this weekend, while Ladislav Kolda (neck) could be out another couple of weeks, Burnett says. . .Defenceman Mike Sellan has been hit with a two-game suspension as a result of a fight late in Sunday's game. ♦♦♦GOLF CLUB^^ % Moe Has Gone Insane <fo|p Every Friday, I Saturday and Sunday 10am to 3pm Look Whatis On Sale For Until the Course Opens or Less Rain Jackets (3 models) Golf Gloves Golf Jackets Shoe Bags Shirts Vests (5 models) Sweat Pants Cardigan Sweat Shirts 2-1 Bomber Shorts Jackets Rain Pants Sets of Headcovers and more...
