The 28th Annual Maple Syrup Festival at Purple Woods Conservation Area will be held March 8 to 16 and again on the weekend of March 22 to 23. As birds start to sing, the sap will be flowing and pancakes pancakes will be flipped during the festival. Hosted by Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority, the festival opens daily from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the March break (March 8 to 16) and the following following weekend. Admission is only $2 for adults, $1 each for children under 12 or $5 for the entire family. General admission admission doesn't include pancakes or wagon rides and visitors are asked not to take pets. Demonstrations will include include the maple sap being cooked into syrup in the Sugar Shack just as it was 400 years ago. A colouring contest and free face-painting will be available for the kids and the family will be able to enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride ($1 per person per ride, weather permitting). ' A visit to the festival would not be complete without enjoying enjoying a stack of hot delicious pancakes covered in 100 per cent pure maple syrup. Pancakes Pancakes will be served daily from 9:30 a.m.to 3 p.m. with the proceeds going to not-for- profit organizations. (The public public is asked to help reduce garbage by taking reusable plates and utensils although paper plates and plastic uten sils will be available.)
