Clarington defeated Oshawa 7-2 to start off the tournament, followed by victories of 5-1 over Brampton and 3- l over Bolton. In the championship game against Oshawa, third period goals by Cameron Ogden and Ryan Sullivan led to a 3-l victory. Derek Watson also scored, with assists to Branden Ruddy, Shane Johns, John Wood, Ryan Sullivan and Derek Watson. Sullivan was named the game's MVP. Goals and assists were evenly distributed distributed throughout the lineup in the tournament. Contributing to the offence offence were Watson (4-4), Ruddy (six assists), Ogden (four goals), Sullivan (2-4), Shaun Taylor (four assists), Mathew Johns (three goals), Shaun Edgell (2-l), Branden Lindberg (2-1), Drew Ferguson (1-2), Shane Johns (two assists), Jordon Dickson (two assists), assists), Wood (one assist), Grant Graham Graham (one assist), Daniel Murphy (one assist). Let's Play ball - The Bow- manville/Newcastle Baseball Association Association is holding its second registration for players interested in an exciting season of summer baseball. The registration is Friday, March 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bow- manville Mall, and Saturday, March 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Garnet Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex in Bowmanville. The league provides baseball in seven different divisions, including T- Ball (4-5 year olds), 4-Pitch (6-7 year olds), Tyke (8-9 year olds), Mosquito (10-11 year olds), Peewee ( 12-13 year olds), Bantam (14-15 year olds) and Midget (16-18 year olds). Registration fees are $55 for T-Ball and 4-Pitch, $95 for Tyke, Mosquito and Peewee, and $115 for Bantam and Midget. For more information, the league's website is bnbabascball.com. WlNTERLUDE CHAMPIONS - The Clarington Toros midget hockey team swept away the competition in winning winning the Winterlude Tournament in Ottawa recently. An unstoppable offensive attack, solid wall of defence and incredible goaltending led to five straight wins. The Toros beat the Rideau-St. Lawrence Kings 4-1, the Ottawa Sting 6-2 and the Eastern Ontario Cobras Cobras 5-4 to advance to the semifinal game, where a 3-2 win over the Gloucester Rangers moved the Toros into the finals. The final produced a 5-2 win over the Ottawa Valley Titans. Storm streak extended - The James Insurance Storm recorded three wins and a tie to extend an unbeaten streak to six games in Clarington Recreation Hockey League atom play. Against Cactus Clothing, James Marlowe continued his scoring streak, . recording two goals and one assist while Brady Richards scored two as well with singles to Greg Gardner, Stephen Fclstcad and Zach Shields in a 7-4 win. Shields also picked up an assist. In the next outing, the Storm was limited to a pair of goals in a 2-2 tie against OPG. Kyle Snowdy and Marlowe Marlowe had goals, with assists to Tyler Jordan, Devon Broome, Lucas Gar- ncau and Waylon Duboy. The Storm also beat Top Vinyl 6-4 and part-time goalie Dylon Shaw led the team to a 5-1 victory over Newcastle. Newcastle. Leading the Storm offensively in the two games were Marlowe (3-1), Richards (2-2), Gardner (two goals), KylcrGilbank (1-1), Fclstcad, Shields and Snowdy (one goal each), Zach Fcdak (three assists), Dylon Shaw (two assists), Garncau and Broome (one assist each). Gilhank was solid in goal in two of the wins and the tie. Vanderduim continue winning - The Clarington Vanderduim Toros have advanced to the finals of the Lukeshore League major peewee A playoffs. The Toros advanced after eliminating eliminating Prince Edward County 3-1 in a best-ol'-five series, In the opening two games, the Toros scored wins of 2-0 and 3-1. Nathan Flint posted the shutout in the opener and Matt Garrison supplied supplied both goals on assists by Dean LaManmic and Greg Camacho. In the 3-1 win, Chad McPaul scored an empty net goal to seal the win. Tyler Neil and Garrison had the other goals with assists to Justin Stadlcr and Devon Morrison. Cory Posteraro was strong in goal, The Toros couldn't sweep the series, series, losing 3-2 in overtime of Game 3. Garrison had a goal and assist while Stadlcr had the other marker. Combined with a 4-2 win against Newcastle and a 3-3 tic with Barna- by's, Liberty Dental is unbeaten in its last three outings. Collecting goals and assists were Paul Vermeulen (6-3), Robert Spencer (3-1), Brenden MacGregor (2-1), Peter Thomas (two goals), Dakota Vanson (1-1), Logan Turner (one goal), Craig Dolhanty (one goal). Excellent team efforts came from Stephen Thickett, Jennifer Moore, Cole Elcome and Justice Walker. Trevor Hachie was solid in net. Canadian Tire Red Wings B finalists - The Canadian Tire Red Wings were B finalists at an atom tournament in Norwood recently. The tournament began with a 6-4 win over Peterborough, followed by a 3-1 setback to Rice Lake. In the B final, the Red Wings were blanked 6- 0 by the Richmond Hill Selects. Goaltender Tyler Maillett was selected selected tournament MVP. The Wings returned to league action action the following day and defeated Detox Environmental 7-3. Goal scorers scorers were Jake Barbour (2), Jessy Irvine, Peter Loudfoot, Stephen Lott (first of his career), Brody Aitchison and Alex Terry.
