Gaels BY BRAD KELLY Staff Writer CLARINGTON - The Clarington Green Gaels accomplished what they wanted to during an exhausting road trip over the weekend. While the final results might suggest suggest otherwise, a pair of losses and just one win in Jr. B play, the trip was a success in other areas, says coach Kevin O'Brien. "We accomplished what we wanted wanted to. We established our needs and evaluated the players in what they can and can't do," he noted. "It was a good team-building trip and we were able to establish some chemistry." The three games in three nights trip started on ri sour note in Huntsville in terms of final result. Despite Despite outshooting the home side by a 58-22 margin, the Green Gaels dropped a 9-8 verdict. The first win of the Ontario Lacrosse Association season came a day later with a convincing 13-7 decision decision over Gloucester, while the trip ended with a 13-11 setback in Nepean Sunday. Added to a 12-12 overtime tie in Milton to open the season April 25, the Green Gaels have limped out of the starting gate with a mediocre 1 -2- 1 record. "If you are going to lose games, you want to do it early," said O'Brien. "We lost two games by three goals, and one of those was into an empty net (against Nepean). "We are not at the panic mode. We've told the players that as an organization, organization, (losing) is not acceptable. But it's not the time to panic." Despite dropping two of three games, O'Brien said the "mood among the players is still positive" witli an opportunity to get back on track tonight (Wednesday) in Markham.
