How can you keep il clean., Well, if your a real clean freak I know of people who remove die grids, after each cooking & soak diem in die sink or wash diem in the dishwasher! After a period of time ibis novelty will wear off which means dial a build up of grease will occur. What you should lie aware of is dial the cooking grids have grease on diem hut the vapour bars also need to he serviced simply get a wire grid brush down die vapour bars so that the drippings get into the grease tray. Remember lo empty & clean out the grease tray so it can build up and catch on fire. Every week or two 1 like turning all die huniers on high and lotting die BBQ run al fiOQ'lv At this temperature any grease on die cooking grids quickly will vaporize & hum off resulting in a sterile cooking grid. Remember lo turn the gritl over upside down and clean off the residual for a really complete job. The best tool I've ever used to remove or Hip the cooking grids of any manufacturer is the Broil King Genius Grid Lifter hem ##50750. Once you buy this tiller you'll wonder how you ever got by without it. It makes removing cast iron grills simple tS: safe. Remember to use a pair of BBQ safely mitts lo protect your skin against an accidental hum. Both of those are musts for safely and to ensure that deposits are removed without injury to you! Other BBQ Maintenance: Remember if you have an electronic ignition system, although a time saver and real convenience, it can he affected hv moisture & cold temperatures. If you are going to use your BBQ through the winter months, make sure you use your cover and keep it on during the rainy months of October, November and into December. If you aren't going to use the BBQ during the winter months remove the battery usually located under the push button. This will prevent the BBQ from leaking acid and causing damage to the electronic circuits inside. The electrodes in the oven or cavity could use a cleaning witli a wire brush or sand paper and check for a bright blue spark when you depress the button. If the gap is too close or too far away the spark will not he as hot and spark will he orange or weak. Sometimes the electrodes need to he changed if you have difficulty lighting you grill. If the porcelain coaling gets cracked then the spark will try to jump to ground before the eleelrode where ignition takes place! Spider and Insect Alert!: Every year we gel I or 2 people seared to use their grills as they report lire shooting out from under the control panel. While this is a frightening situation to people as it is unnerving it can he explained. This is called a flashback tire which is caused by a blockage in the venturi tubes leaking to the burner. See picture below for using a venturi brush to do regular maintenance on your veiituiies. Some BBQs use an iron or bronze humer witli many small holes. The Grill Pro or Grand Cafe BBQs are one manufacturer that use these burners. Regular maintenance requires that the huniers lie removed and the holes cleaned out witli a coat hanger or some people use a drill bit on a battery drill. Be careful not to enlarge the Imlcs as this can cause your grill lo dangerously over heat. Consult your BBQ manual for correct maintenance procedures pertinent to the model you bought. Also make sure if you are using propane gas to turn the tank off when you arc finished using the grill. On natural gas models a safety shut off valve should lie shut off which is near your grill. This will prevent little lingers from playing with your BBQ and accidentally turning the gas on! 1 lave a safe & liin summer entertaining on your BBQ grill. The owner of Pingles Farm on Taunton Road in Clarington saw his sales double Friday, Aug. 15 as a result result of the power outage. "The grocery stores were closed so people were stocking up here," said Mr. Pingle. And while oilier stores were quickly quickly losing revenue by the minute, the only loss Pingles incurred was the proceeds from some items that were to be sold in area grocery stores. "Lots of people were wondering where they were going to get food. We were glad they could come here," said Mr. Pingle, admitting he was initially initially concerned about his produce. "It was stressful because we were worried about losing stuff. But we did have a little generator that we ran the till with and used to keep the freezers cold." Mr. Pingle said the most popular items sold Friday were loaves of bread and pies. "It was really no different than any other day," he said. "We had to bake more bread the next day when the lights went on because we sold out." The business was also doing its part to conserve energy by keeping the lights turned off, noted Mr. Pinele.
