The Toros defeated their league rivals rivals Oshaxva 6-1. but dropped a very close contest against another of their division teams, the Markham VVaxers. 4-2. They led for most of the game, but Markham scored the go-ahead goal with only four minutes remain ing. and then had an eniply-nctter. In the tournament, the Toros dropped their first game 2-1 to Wexford. Wexford. and came up against a very strong squad in the Mahon Hurricanes. Hurricanes. losing 7-2. Goaltenders Nolan Rocloffzcn and Jason Murray played very strong in the four games, and kept the score close. Playing well defensively was Cameron Hoy, while winger Blair Beckett was sidelined with an arm injury, injury, and will join the team soon. The Oshaxva game was penalty- filled. and the special teams had some extra work. The game against the Halton Hurricanes was also a rough- and-tumble affair. Garnering points during the tournament tournament were: Mitchell Heard (l-5), Luke Ryan (2-2), Jordan Bailey (2-1 ), Rory Craddock (l-2), Chris Moore (2-0), Dillon Corcoran (0-2), Chad Tutton (0-2), Daniel Litner (l-l), Rory McDowell (l-0), Nathan Zavitz (l-0), David Morrison (0-l), Stefan Diachenko (0-L) and Zach Glaspell (0-l). Deighton U10 end season CLARINGTON - The Darlington Darlington under-10 girls' rep soccer team, sponsored by Stale Farm Insurance Agent Nathan Arnstowski and Al's Variety, finished off the season with a win and a loss at the final Cup Tournament. In their first game against West Rouge, Josée Primeau, Stephanie Forrest and Brigitte Hillebrand dominated dominated the midfield to keep the ball in their opponent's end and provide scoring opportunities. Forwards Courtney Rank, Brianna St-Cyr and Lindsay Akol continually tested the West Rouge keeper but could not gel one past her. Megan Kirkham finally scored the lone goal in the l-O victory after taking taking advantage of a rebound off a shot by Sarah Cayouette. Outstanding defensive defensive play by Taylor Small, Bre- anne McPaul and Julia Vandcrlip, along with superior goaltending by Victoria Gilks, kept West Rouge scoreless to earn the shutout. Darlington faced the opposing division division leader, Scarborough United, in the second game. Despite a great effort by the girls, Scarborough won the game 3-0.
