Championship season for Blue Angels CLARINGTON - The Darlington Blue Angels undcr-14 rep soccer team put together a championship season, finishing with an impressive 15-2-1 record to capture first place and win the CESL championship. The season was full of fun and excitement including going to Ottawa for the Ottawa Royals Annual Soccer Tournament and being crowned champions with an undefeated record against Premier League Clubs from that area. The Darlington Blue Angels also went undefeated in the Peterborough Peterborough Tournament, were finalists in the Weston Fall Classic (losing out on a penalty shootout) and were semifinalists in two other tournaments. The team was sponsored by Harry Kamstra and Sons Landscaping, Dy-Tcch Industries, Avery Masonry, Joseph Neal and Tim's Rent-All. Art and Technique opens season with winning record Pair of victories over Orillia, and another against Richmond Hill, has Toro team on right track CLARINGTON - The Clarington Art and Technique Toros have started the minor peewee AAA season with a winning record, going 3-2 with two wins against Orillia and a victory against Richmond Hill. The Toros handily defeated the North Central Predators from Orillia by scores of 8-0 at home and 6-4 in Orillia, and they jumped in front of Richmond Richmond Hill and led the entire game, winning 4-3. The Whitby Wildcats and the York Simcoe Express - some of the stillest competition competition the Toros will face this year in their division - handed the Toros their only defeats of the young season, with scores of 5-2 and 6-3, respectively. In the game against Whitby, the Toros were down 3-2 going into the third period, and the Wildcats pulled ahead with two more goals in the final 15 minutes. minutes. Against York Simcoe in Bradford, the Toros were tied 1-1 after one period, were down 3-2 after two, and slipped in the third frame, allowing allowing the opposition three goals and getting only one in return. James Insurance unbeaten CLARINGTON - Nick Copelli scored his first career goal and added a pair of assists to lead the James Insurance Thunder to an 8-2 win over King Ritson Dental in Clarington Recreational Hockey League play.
