Flames burn bright with second tournament win CLARINGTON - For the second time in the last month, the Clarington Flames BB bantam girls' hockey team came away as tournament champions, winning five games in a row in Peterborough. Peterborough. Starting the tournament against rival Peterborough, the Flames recorded a 3- 0 shutout, followed by an S-l drubbing of Scarborough. The following day, Peterborough Peterborough was again taken out 4-2, and the Flames followed with another win against Scarborough 9-0. In the championship game, the Flames scored the first goal of the game with just five minutes left, and added two more for a 3-0 final. Outstanding goaltending by Lindsay Jones and Kristen hvanczyk led to three shutouts in the tournament. Strong defence defence came from Coleen Bathe, Kali Burnham. Liz Thomas, Julie Derks, Krista Valckx and Danielle Sero. Goal scorers for the tournament were Chantal Graham, Brittney Sero, Ally Stade, Breanna Hunt, Lindsay Campbell, Sarah Doiron, Amanda Mil- janovski, Lauren Hamilton, Valckx, Thomas, Sero, Bathe and Monica Neal. At the Waterloo Ravens Fall Classic, the Flames reeled off five wins in a row to win the championship. In round robin play, the Flames beat the Waterloo Ravens 4-3, Whitby Wolves 7-0 and Peterborough Ice Kats 6-1. A 5-1 win over the Etobicoke Dolphins Dolphins put the Flames into the finals, where they posted their second win of the tournament over the Ravens 2-1. The Flames look forward to their next tournament in Scarborough on Jan 9-11.
