Clarington Public Library Board. The main purpose of such a plan is to articulate a vision for continued prosperity of the business core,, based on an assessment of past experience experience and future prospects along with realistic implementation policies, programmes and steps. To guide the development of the CIP a community focus group will be appointed. To ensure we have a cross-section of representation from the community, community, we are looking for volunteers from Bowmanville stakeholder groups, property and business owners, residents and including a representative from outside the core urban area of Bowmanville. The Committee will provide advice to Clarington Council, from a community perspective, regarding the draft Community Improvement Plan Work Program and bring to the table their uniqùe interest and perspective for incorporation into the CIP. We are seeking representatives with knowledge of environmental, environmental, social/historic, cultural/recreational and economic issues associated with Bowmanville. It is estimated that the focus group will meet at least 5 times during the process and attend the public meetings. Specifically we are looking for a resident of the urban core area, a resident from outside Bowmanville, and two representatives from the business community community in Bowmanville that are not in the BIA. Properly Assessment Notices Are In The Mail A Property Assessment Notice is now an annual notification notification sent to all property owners to advise them of their property's current value assessment (CVA). Your property assessment is determined by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). MPAC is a not-for- profit corporation funded by all Ontario municipalities. HOW WILL THIS NOTICE AFFECTYOU? Next spring budgets will be established for Durham Region, the Provincial Education and the Municipality of Clarington. When the budgets are finalized the tax rates will be set and applied to your new current value assessment (CVA) to determine determine your tax responsibility. You can NOT appeal the tax rate. You do have the right to appeal your Property Assessment Notice. WHAT CAN YOU DO IF YOU DISAGREE WITH YOUR NOTICE OF ASSESSMENT? The Municipality of Clarington can not change your property assessment. Refer to the brochure "Understanding Your Property Assessment Notice" that was included with your Notice of Assessment for more details. Contact MPAC 1-866-296-MPAC(6722) to discuss your assessment or verify details about your property. If you still have concerns, you may ask MPAC for a reconsideration reconsideration of your assessment. Another option is to file a formal appeal with the Assessment Review Board. (ARB). The ARB appeal deadline is March 31, 2004.
