'.diirlMmregion.com New high school will relieve overcrowding BY SHELLEY JORDAN Staff Writer CLARINGTON - The municipality has different needs than the rest of the school board, according to the new vice-chairman for the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. Diane Lloyd, representing representing Douro-Druminer, Gal- way-Cavendish & Harvey, North Kawartha and Smith- Ennismore-Lakefield, was acclaimed to her position as vice-chairman after serving as tmstee for three years. As well, she was a member of the resource committee and chairperson's committee. "There's a new high school going into Claring- ton," said Ms. Lloyd. "The sooner it opens, the better." She added the school is scheduled to open in 2005, and will relieve some of the overcrowding presently found in area schools. "Children are stuck in portables," she said. "There's a greater need in Clarington for space than anywhere across the board." As well. Ms. Lloyd says there are many issues needing needing to be addressed for all areas. "My job as vice-chairman is to back up the chairman and make sure all areas of the board arc treated equally and according to need," she said.
