When the dust had settled, though, more than 100 minutes in penalties had been doled out; the Generals had enjoyed ll power plays (including four two-man advantages of varying lengths) and members of the Sarnia coaching staff, having watched several several ,players get banished to the dressing room, had resorted to sarcastic claps of approval directed at the officials. , In the midst of all the extra-curric- ulfir silliness, however, a solid and relatively relatively disciplined game from the home side emerged. Oshawa, who also beat Belleville 2-1 on Friday, won its. second in a row after shutting down a potent Sarnia offence. ( Oshawa coach/GM George Burnett pointed out his players weren't exact- ly._ angels themselves against the ornery Sting. He was generally pleased, though, with his club's response response to it all. Overall, he's happy with a pair of wins after what he termed a "very lacklustre perfor- njiance" Thursday, a 4-0 loss to the Brampton Battalion. £ "We didn't give up a lot of quality scoring opportunities so we must have dijne something well in our own end of the rink," he said of the most recent \$n.. £ Against the Sting, goaltender Dan Tjjrple made 15 of his 26 stops in the (first period. Power-play goals from Brandon McBride (16th) early in the second and Andrew Gibbons (5th) nl^dway through the third gave Turple the cushion he needed. The goaltender saw little action for the final 30 minutes, minutes, facing just four shots, jj "I think a lot of shots at the start re- aHy boosts your confidence," Tiirple said. "Wé're working working as a team out there and it's really showing on the ice." . Added Burnett, "Our guys are banged up and bruised after a game like that so I guess you learn that ' maybe if you're willing to pay that kind of price you can win a little more regularly."
