Christopher Dupuis, of BowmanVille, who plays at both the Whitby Jr. Club and The Mandarin Club in Markham won (he boy's U14 Singles B Final and teamed up with Emily Wong from The Granite Club, to win the Ul4 Mixed B Finals as well. Heather Ailken from the Whitby Jr. Club partnered with Ken Chan from The Varsity Blues to reach the U19 Mixed Doubles B Final. Aitken and Kerry Stevens from the Whitby Jr. Club won silver medals in the U19 Girl's' Doubles, quite a feat considering Kerry is only 15 years old. The team sent a record 10 athletes.to this tournament from Oshawa, Whitby, Bowmanville Bowmanville and Courtice, including including Jamie Lawrence, Ros Aitken, Dana Lue, Ryan Luc, Scott Devenu, Bronwyn Walker, and Danielle Hirn- beault. Nothing but blue skies for James Insurance Thunder CLAR1NGT0N - The James Insurance Thunder extended its Clarington Recreational Hockey League winning streak to five games in a row in atom play with a pair of wins. Ryan Kelly scored three times, while Sam Potts and Nathan Laisliram added a pair each in an 8-3 victory over Continental Currency Exchange. Adam Jahshan had the other goal, with as sists to Laishram (2), Potts and Thomas Leslie. Brad Park recorded his fourth shutout in league play, sixth on the season, as the Thunder blanked King Ritson Dental 5-0 to improve to 12-2 on the season. Laishram scored four times, with Nick Copetti potting the other. Assists went to Potts (3), Josh Maynard, Sam Canonico, Alyssa Keeler and Kelly. MARKHAM - Chris Dupuis of Bowmanville recently received some high performance badminton coaching from Gong Zhi Chao, the gold medal winner from the Sydney Olympics. Ms. Chao was flown in from China by the Mandarin Badminton Club in Markham for a public demonstration and private lessons for their team members. Chris, 12, is the top ranked under-14 player in Central Central Ontario, and is a member of the Mandarin Club's high performance performance competitive team. Qualtec peewees fall just short against Ayren Links CLARINGTON - The Qualtec peewees came up just one goal short against Ayren Links, dropping a Clarington Recreational Hockey League game by a 4-3 score. Scoring for Qualtec were Mathew Cowle, Cody Jackson and Michael Brand, with Bradley Skelton Skelton contributing an assist.
