Captain Shane Sargent pots a pair in fourth win in a row for Green Gaels - BY BRAD KELLY Sports Editor BOWMANVILLE - For the past two seasons, Shane Sargent has been at or near the top of the statistical list for the Clarington Green Gaels. And now, in this, his third season with the Jr. B lacrosse club, he's at the top of the list in the eyes of his teammates. The 18-year-old sniper was voted by his teammates as the club's captain captain for this season, a tribute to not only his penchant for accumulating accumulating points, but to his leadership skills as well. "He's not the stand- up and scream kind of guy and he doesn't look for the glory with the media or the fans," says general . , manager Doug Luey of the team's leader. "He just goes out there and plays solid every game. He leads by example on the floor." Sargent, like he is in just about every game, was a leader on the floor Sunday afternoon, scoring twice and . adding three assists in a lopsided 23- 6 victory over the visiting Gloucester Griffins. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Green Gaels, improving improving to 9-5 on the season. Like this year's edition, Sargent has steadily improved since joining the team as a rookie for the 2002 season, season, culminating in a Founder's Cup championship. Adding the 'C' to his jersey , this . season hasn't altered his game on the floor, although he admits to taking on more responsibility before the game and on the bench, when needed. With Hunstville (0-12) on tap again Thursday Thursday night at the Garnet B.
