A devoted husband of 57 years to his wife Victoria (nee Grech). A loving father of six sons John, Paul, Henry, Joe Jr., Fred and Charles and a daughter Olympia. He descended descended and belonged to an ancient and noble Italian family which possessed Baronial Lands in Bonalbergo and has enjoyed the rank of nobility. As early as the 1500s his ancestors have held high offices in the Kings Court of the two Sicilies, serving serving as Judges and Legal Secretariats. When Ihe war broke out in 1939 Joseph Frendo-Cumbo at the age of 17 joined .the British Atmy to serve his country. He retired after 35 years service in both the Canadian and British Military. He served in Malta, the Middle East, Italy, Sudan, Palestine, and East and- North Africa. He served as an infantry man, armour, air dispatch, paratrooper, and tank commander. He served Ihe Ontario Regiment Armour Armour Division as a Squadron Sgl. Major. He earned Ihe Canadian Forces ..Declaration and Clasp and in 1974 became a Commissioned Officer Officer in the Canadian Navy Reserve. He received Ihe 1939 - 1945 Star, Italy Star, Defence Metal, Victory Metal, Palestine Metal, CD with Clasp, the Polish Resituta Metal and the Polish Cross of Merit. Merit. He enjoyed an illustrious career of 25 years with Manulife Financial as an agenl, supervisor and unit manager. In 1971 he became a Knight ol Ihe Sovereign Sovereign Order of SI. John of Jerusalem, for the last 35 years he has dedicated a major part of his life lo charity. In.recognition for his exemplary contributions contributions to his country and his roll in helping others he has received many awards and metals including Ihe 125th Anniversary ol Confederation signed by her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Phillip Award, Humanity Awards and various honorary degrees and Knighthoods from many parts ol the world. In 1997 he was elected as Ihe 75th Grand Master for Life as Ihe Supreme Head of the Sovereign Order ol SI. John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitallers. Carolyn was born October 6, 1940 in Oshawa, ON. She was raised on a farm in the country, at Thornton's Corners, with her parents, the late Helen and Walter Buss and two brothers, Eric and Grant. Farm life nurtured Carolyn's love for all things in nature and led to a life long passion for the .outdoors. She leaves, to mourn, her husband, husband, George Dallas Ramsay, brothers Eric (wife Carol), and Grant (wife Cheryl) and many nieces and nephews. Her very dear and special cousin, Ginny Rusk (husband Robert), Marge Misters (John), Robert Lick (Linda) all in Canada, will miss her.
