Jamboree gets things jammin' at Orono Fairgrounds ■ ORONO -- The third annual Orono Bluegrass and Old Tyme Country Jamboree took place last weekend at the Orono Fairgrounds. About a dozen bands, coming from as far away as Quebec and London, Ontario, but largely local, performed performed over the course of the event with an open mike Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon. The,event is the brainchild of Jim Hayward and Jodie Tennant, who had long attended such festivals in other areas. "We been going to bluegrass festivals for years. We always took the kids and had a good time," said Ms. Tennant last year. "We wanted to do sojnething to bring some dollars dollars and tourists to Orono, and this is what we knew about."
